Safety at it’s finest

Do you want to know one of the reasons why I like the HSE profession so much?  It doesn’t take a genius to be a “safety guy”.  I’ve found that “common sense” isn’t that common and anyone with a little bit of it can be a very good safety guy.  On the job, I’ve seen things that are just about as crazy as these knuckleheads below.  Then when they get hurt it affects the entire company!

Netanyahu Soundly Defeats Chief Rival in Israeli Elections – NYTimes.com.

Since I have done some work in Israel, I’ve been following the election.  Everything I heard leading up to and the day of the vote said that Netanyahu was going to lose.  However, when I woke up today I see that he came back from behind and won fairly handedly.

Some of my contacts over there were supporting the “other guy”, mostly because they are tired of the fighting in the Gaza Strip and thought the new guy would just give the land back to Palestine and the fighting would be over.  Some of my other contacts said the fighting would never be over and that Netanyahu offers a more secure Israel.

As for me, I’m more interested in Noble Energy getting back to work on Leviathan.  Noble had to suspend operations because Israel stated that they had a monopoly on Oil and Gas.  To me, that doesn’t make much sense, if you spend the money to explore, drill and develop and you find the oil and gas, then you should reap the rewards right?

Le Bifteck Restaurant in Netanya, Israel

Le Bifteck
Le Bifteck

While I was staying in Netanya, Israel, I happened upon this restaurant close to the hotel.  The sign above the restaurant said “Beef and Fish”, the sign next door said “Fish and Beef”.  I usually opt for beef, so here is where I spent many nights.  The food was great and for Israel the service was great.  The service in most of Israel is a bit more relaxed, it reminded more of restaurants in southern Louisiana.  A bit slower, but the waiters would chat up every table.  Nice atmosphere and the beef was great.  The fish was good also, I even liked it more than the “Fish and Beef” place next door.
